The Culinary Director Specialist is responsible for assisting culinary teams at our communities to ensure the culinary program is meeting resident and budgetary expectations. This role will provide oversight as well as leadership and support to community Culinary Directors and Executive Directors to assist them in maintaining an exceptional dining experience for our residents.

- Shift/hours: 10 day on, 4 day off schedule
Responsibilities:
- Fill-in during the absence of a Culinary Director
- Provide training and coaching to community culinary associates and directors
- Evaluate community culinary operations to ensure that each part is functioning to a desired level of excellence
- Identify opportunities to enhance the quality and cost of food purchasing and make recommendations to senior management
- Maintain strong and positive relationships with all vendors and work food vendors and others to develop menus that are delicious and offer balanced nutrition for our residents
- Overseeing the orientation program for new community chefs and culinary directors and make recommendations for improvement
- Provide culinary leadership and support to chefs within the communities
- Participate in the interview process and candidate evaluation for Culinary Director openings
- Ensure that all staff uses and maintains equipment properly to avoid damage and costly repairs
- Confirm that there is an appropriate inventory of kitchen supplies, small wares and tableware and culinary budget is being utilized appropriately
- Communicating effectively with other members of the home office leadership team
- May perform other duties as assigned or requested
Skills/Requirements:
- Minimum 1-year experience in related multi-community position or a minimum of 5+ years’ management and foodservice experience within the senior living and/or hospitality industry with current or previous experience as an Executive Chef or Dining Services Manager within the senior housing industry
- Specific experience with the culinary needs of memory care and dementia residents within an assisted living or memory care community
- Culinary Arts Degree (preferred)
- ServSafe Certification
- Professional level computer skills to include the ability to utilize Microsoft Office products, email, etc.
- This position will require approximately 75-100% travel. The ability to travel up to a week at a time with little notice is required
- Professional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to read, write, and communicate in English
